Company’s Eclipse-based IDE wins VDC’s Best in Show
and eg3.com’s Editor’s Tech Choice

San Diego, CA(May 15, 2008)

Express Logic, Inc., the worldwide leader in royalty-free real-time operating systems (RTOS), has received two prestigious awards from industry editors and analysts for its new BenchX™ Eclipse-based IDE for embedded development. Venture Development Corporation (VDC) awarded BenchX its “Best in Show” award for the 2008 Embedded Systems Conference–Silicon Valley, and eg3.com gave Express Logic its “Editor’s Tech Choice” award in recognition of the significant value BenchX represents as a new product for embedded developers. Both companies believe Express Logic’s BenchX makes a significant contribution to the embedded systems market.

VDC, a technology market research and strategy firm, has over 30 years of experience providing market research, strategic analysis and consulting services to technology companies worldwide. Each year, VDC awards its highly coveted “EMBEDDY” to the product judged to be the “Best in Show” at the Embedded Systems Conference–Silicon Valley, the largest North American conference focused on the embedded systems industry. As VDC notes, “Express Logic has been a supplier of commercial real-time operating systems and middleware for over eleven years. Express Logic’s release of the BenchX IDE marks a big step in the company’s history and rounds out their product offering by prudently leveraging open source technology.” VDC adds, “With pricing per seat expected to be in the sub-$1,000 range, the offering provides developers a less expensive solution that is adequate for the requirements of many embedded projects.”

eg3.com, the oldest and largest web portal for embedded systems, seeks to identify the tools that peak developer interest across embedded domains from software to boards, from chips to FPGAs, and from DSP to Internet-enabling communications. eg3.com’s Tech Choice awards involve two tiers—the Editor’s Tech Choice and the Readers’ Tech Choice. In winning the Editor’s Tech Choice award for Embedded Tools, Express Logic’s BenchX announcement has been identified as newsworthy and significant to the embedded industry.

The second tier of eg3.com’s Tech Choice involves the Readers’ Tech Choice. With a readership of more than 40,000 viewers, eg3.com offers one of the largest Readers’ Tech Choice opportunities for the industry. Using the three companies awarded the Editor’s Tech Choice for each product category, eg3.com is now surveying its audience to identify which of the products sparks the most developer interest. The product gaining the most votes by May 19th is selected as the winner of the Readers’ Tech Choice award in each category.

“The embedded industry is constantly making significant innovations, and Express Logic’s introduction of BenchX is among the most newsworthy of such innovations in the Embedded Development Tools area,” noted Jason McDonald, founder and president of eg3.com. “The awards commend new products, like Express Logic’s BenchX, that take promising technologies and provide practical ways that design engineers and programmers can turn these technologies into real designs, today.""

“We are honored by these awards from VDC and eg3.com, two organizations that provide excellent insight into and coverage of the embedded systems industry,” commented William E. Lamie, president of Express Logic. “Both companies provide valuable information and analysis of embedded systems and the market for products that address this industry. Our new BenchX product adds a lot of “embedded value” to the open-source GNU tool chain and to the Eclipse framework. We’re thrilled to see that both VDC and eg3.com find what we’ve done to be of significant value and interest to the embedded developer.”
